North Cyprus guide

North Cyprus

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus comprises an area of 3,3355 square miles and is located in the north of the island which is the third largest in the Mediterranean Sea. İt is situated only 70 kilometres south of Turkey and enjoys a wonderful climate of long hot summers and short mild winters. It usually rains heavily during January/February when the precious underground water reserves are replenished.

North Cyprus still offers remarkable value for money with prices as much as 50% cheaper than South Cyprus. This side of the island is still relatively unspoilt and the Environment Agency are taking care not to allow such building density as to spoil the beautiful coastline, forest and mountain areas.

The Korenium Golf Club at Esentepe is an experience not to be missed, not only for the very beautiful challenging 18 hole & 3 hole courses and driving range but also for the wonderful dining and spa facilties. Properties in this area are sure to provide a marvellous long term investment.

Shopping facilities are constantly improving and the TRNC Government have recently introduced VAT free shopping for visitors to the island which is available at selected retailers.

North Cyprus offers an astonishing number of bars and restaurants which cater for every taste, whether a simple inexpensive local meal or gourmet international cuisine with all the trimmings.

You can easily find English speaking Doctors and Dentists who have up to date equipment and will normally see you almost immediately. The state hospitals are underfunded and somewhat basic but there are many modern private clinics where the standard of care is superb. Please ensure that you take out adequate travel insurance before visiting the island as all treatment and medicine is chargeable.
